ITIL® (the IT Infrastructure Library) is a set of best practices for IT Service Management.
This framework defines how Service Management is applied within specific organisations and has emerged as the most widely accepted approach to the management and delivery of IT Services in the world.
The framework was developed by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) in recognition of organisations' growing dependency on IT. The ethos behind ITIL® recognises the importance of IT in order to satisfy corporate aims and meet business needs, this leads to an increased requirement for high quality IT services which ITIL® seeks to deliver.
Drawn from the public and private sectors internationally it is supported by a comprehensive qualification scheme, accredited training organisations and implementation/ assessment tools. The best practice processes promoted in ITIL® both support and are supported by the British Standards Institution’s Standard for IT Service Management (BS20000).

IT Service Management – Foundation
This course is designed to provide a foundation level of knowledge in IT Service Management. It is aimed at all personnel who wish to become familiar with the best practices for IT Service Management, as defined in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) guidelines. In particular, it enables people to understand the terminology used within the ITIL® approach. |
ITIL® Practitioner's Certificate
These courses are aimed at those who are responsible within their organisation for designing specific processes within the IT Service Management discipline and performing the activities that belong to those processes. While the Manager’s Certificate focuses on managing ITIL® the Practitioner’s Certificates focus on the depth of understanding and application of those subjects treating each subject as a specialism. |
ITIL® Manager's Certificate (Support & Delivery)
The Manager’s Certificate is aimed at those who need to demonstrate a capability of managing ITIL® based solutions across the breadth of the Service Management subjects. |
